Dollar Dance (aka Honeymoon Dance) is it a tacky tradition?

The Dollar Dance (aka the Honeymoon Dance), is one of the more popular  events at a wedding reception for some cultures.  While some consider it traditional, some feel it's tacky, the issue with this is that they don't understand the tradition of the Dollar Dance. However, both the bride and groom should be comfortable with the idea.

This dance usually takes place during the wedding reception and sometime after the bride and groom’s first dance.  There is also a lot of variation on when the wedding dollar dance occurs at a reception.

For the honeymoon dance, wedding guests will line up to either dance one-on-one with the bride or groom.  In many cultures, it is only the bride that goes through the money dance.  The honeymoon dance usually lasts for a few songs.

Guests clothespin the money to the bride and groom.  A bride may carry a special purse to hold the money.  Best of all, the bride and groom keep the money contributed by the guests as a gift.
